Growing up in a small town nestled in the forest, nature always served as her therapy and inspiration. This led her to pursue a bachelor's degree in Plant Sciences with an emphasis in Landscape Design and Horticulture from the University of Missouri followed by a Masters in Landscape Architecture and Certificate in Architecture and Urbanism from the University of Southern California.

With her passion for the co-evolution of plants and humans, Karelaine continued to pursue more mediums and initiatives through her companies KWDesign Co. and Asha Apothecary. She founded KWDesign Co. and took on eclectic design projects from graphic and website design to creative direction for sustainable brands to experiential design for music festivals and events. She blended her passion for nature-based wellness and sustainability through co-founding Asha Apothecary: a hemp and wellness brand that created earth-friendly products to promote calm amidst the chaos. Through these platforms, her company generated educational content and partnered with the regenerative agriculture nonprofit, Kiss the Ground. Karelaine also served as an Adjunct Instructor and Guest Lecturer for Regenerative Studies at the University of Southern California and Cal Poly Pomona.
